JAMMU, Oct 29: Vice Chairman (MoS), J&K State Kissan Advisory Board and MLA Nowshera, Radhay Sham Sharma has sought intervention of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, for getting sanctioned special Central Package for one time settlement of demands of border migrants.
In a statement here the MLA urged for special package to mitigate the sufferings of border migrants of Nowshera constituency for permanent settlement of 2200 families including compensation and financial assistance for the houses damaged; perished cattle heads; Crop losses; Compensation for land under occupation of Army and damages done due to firing and shelling from across borders.
Sharma also demanded providing Government jobs to each affected border migrant family; Allotment of 10 Marla plot at safer place as one time settlement. He said the issue stands debated in Assembly a number of times but without any tangible results.
Mr Sharma also demanded an early sanctioning of special package for over 3 lakh refugees settled in Jammu and Kashmir from PoK, West Pakistan since 1947 and displaced persons of Chamb in 1965 and 1971 (both camp and non-camp) by giving them one time permanent settlement and compensation for the properties left by them; Employment package also in case of PoK cases; and According residential status to West Pakistan refugees.
While condemning Pakistan Army for frequent cease-fire violations and targeting civilian population, Sharma conveyed his gratitude to Indian Army and Para-Medical forces for giving befitting reply to Pakistan army and in safeguarding our borders with courage and bravery.
Mr Sharma appealed the public in general and all political parties in particular to help the Government in maintaining peace, communal harmony and brotherhood.
