NEW DELHI, Dec 19: Rebel JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav on Tuesday called for a Mahagatbandan to “change the political scenario in the country”, in view of Gujarat election results.
In a series of tweets, he said that when the nation is facing several issues, the ruling dispensation’s win in elections is incomprehensible.
“The country is moving towards lack of jobs, lynching, unchecked inequalities, widening Hindu-Muslim divide, increased crony capitalism, increased rural distress and inhuman decisions like note bandhi and GST, yet the ruling party gains in elections is not understandable” Mr Yadav tweeted.
He alleged that the wrong policies of the Union Government added to the woes of farmers, especially import of agricultural commodities. “Imports benefits only big business houses. Government should boost yields to increase agricultural income and efficient procurement system,” he demanded.
Mr Yadav said the Congress gave a tough fight in Gujarat, the contest was a close call in view of the fact that in 16 constituencies, the Congress candidates lost by less than a margin of 3000 votes. “Hoping that Mahagatbandan will change the political scenario in the country,” he said. (UNI)
