JAMMU, Oct 28: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma vowed to fight for the cause of Jammuites and said that he will continue to protect the interests of his people. Sharma said being their representative it was his duty to fight for their due share and right, adding that when he failed to protect their rights he took the harsh decision of resigning from the Ministry.
Minister said this while addressing functions organized by several biradaries, social organizations and unions at Akhnoor and Jourian today.
Heads of several biradaries, social organizations, unions and prominent citizens of Akhnoor and Jourian present on the occasions expressed solidarity and full faith in the leadership of Sham Lal Sharma and maintained that the people from entire Jammu region fully support him.
The speakers highlighted the contribution of Sharma for the development of Jammu region particularly Akhnoor segment, which he represents.
Justifying his decision for resignation from the Council of Ministers, Sham Lal Sharma said that he fought tooth and nail for the just cause of over 60,000 daily rated workers engaged in different departments since 1994 for their regularization, but some senior NC Minister created hurdles in the process and defeated the genuine cause of poor workers. Annoyed by the rigid attitude of the NC, he chose to step down, he added.
Sham said that election process has started and people must support for the Congress party which is the only genuine outfit which can protect the interests of people of Jammu. He said the Congress will again play a decisive role in forming the next Government in the State and people should make best use of their ballot in the current elections.
He asked the people not to be misled by the propaganda unleashed by other parties like PDP, BJP, who are just dream sellers and hollow slogan mongers, adding that they just appear during the electioneering and disappear for rest of the remaining period.
