Sham steps up election campaign in Akhnoor, seeks votes on performance

AKHNOOR, Nov 13:  Stepping up election campaign, Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control and senior leader of Congress, Sham Lal Sharma today addressed series of meetings in the hilly belt of Akhnoor constituency and sought support for his candidature.
Addressing election meetings at village, Kanah, Jalada, Dhanna Ambo Shani, Danna Chappri, Dhanna Dhanu and Ambi, the Minister urged the people to vote on the basis of his performance during the past one decade. He said that his focus remained on the upgradation of infrastructural facilities like road connectivity, drinking water, education, electricity and health services etc, which are prime needs of the people. He asked them to judge his performance as MLA and support his nomination in order to accelerate the development tempo in future too.
Maintaining that Akhnoor constituency has witnessed massive development during his two stints, the Minister said the initiatives are self- speaking and can be gauged by a common man. These initiatives include, widening of Dhanna Jalada road from Kappa Gala to Gulaba Chapper, upgradation of Govt High School Chowki Chowra, Middle Schools, Kaneri, Salanger, Dhanna Chapri, Jhang, Ghaar Majoor, creation of SDM, tehsil, block headquarters at Chowki Chowra, Niabats at Rah Salyot, Ghaar Majoor, Chowki Chowra, RBA status to several villages, Lift Irrigation Schemes at Gangal, Sidherwan Dhanna and Check Dam at Chowki.
Similarly, the tube-wells/dug-wells were set up at Makara, Ai Dhanna, Budh Chadyee, Basawa, Ghaar, Chang, Rameen Makhyan, Turgalla, Kaller, Salyote, Manal Bagla etc while receiving stations were established at Chowki Chowra, Danna Jalada and  Balli Gulaba, said Mr  Sham.
Assuring the people to further accelerate the developmental activities in the Akhnoor constituency, the Minister made fervent appeal to support his candidature as Congress nominee for another tenure. He said Congress party has experience of serving people for longest period in the country and people must support it and ensure the victory of its candidates for the welfare and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
Prominent among those, accompanied the Minister, included, Shakti Ram Sharma, Chuni Lal Sharma, Sarpanch Danna Jalada, Radhe Sham Sharma, Yash Pal Sharma, Madan Lal, Munshi Ram and Romesh Chander.
