JAMMU, Jan 8: Senior PCC leader and former minister Congress Sham Lal Sharma has alleged that BJP-PDP Government has turned out to be a complete failure in all the fronts and most parts of Jammu are reeling under acute shortage of water, power and ration supply but the government is not taking effective steps to solve these problems.
Addressing Block Congress Committee meeting at Akhnoor today Sham Lal alleged that the present coalition Govt of PDP-BJP has failed on all fronts. He said that the people of Jammu are experiencing difficulties in these harsh winter months due to the shortage of electricity and erratic water supply and scarcity of ration at the ration depots.
Cong leader expressed his anguish over the harsh attitude of Govt towards the daily wagers who are on strike for the last several months. They are not being paid their wages resultantly their families and school going children are facing financial hardships.
Sham urged upon the Govt to intervene and address their long pending demands.
He further said that since the Adhar card has been termed as a bonafide document, the requirement of same has now become all the most important. There is a good percentage of people to whom the Aadhar Cards have not been issued.
Accusing BJP of indulging in “double speak” on the issue of West Pakistan refugees (WPR), Sham Lal said the party which had promised to provide citizenship rights to the refugees before elections is now providing only identity cards to them. He also charged BJP with exploiting the issue for the sake of vote bank politics. Sharma said the rival party owes an explanation as to why the promise of citizenship rights has trickled down to mere identity cards.
