Sham pays tributes to Kargil martyrs

KARGIL, Oct 24: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Kargil War by laying wreath at the Drass War Memorial constructed in the memory of soldiers and officers of Indian Army who made supreme sacrifices during Kargil War.
On the occasion, the Minister was briefed about the achievements of Armed Forces during Kargil War.
Remembering the Kargil War heroes, the Minister said that it is because of their sacrifices that we feel safe at our places and can enjoy festivals with our families, adding that it is the duty and responsibility of every citizen to remember these heroes and pay  their respect to them by doing something positive for the country.
Later, the Minister also visited Manoj Pandey War Gallery named after Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey, an officer of the Indian Army who was posthumously awarded the India’s highest military honour, Param Vir Chakra for his audacious courage and leadership during adverse times.
The gallery houses pictures of soldiers during the war and weapons recovered from the Pakistani forces. The Minister appreciated the efforts of Indian Army for constructing this War Memorial for providing opportunity to the visitors to pay their tributes to the martyrs and can have the glimpses of Kargil War.
He also distributed sweets to the soldiers on the occasion and also wrote his message on the visitor’s book.
