JAMMU, Aug 17: As part of Government initiatives to upgrade health infrastructure across the State, Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma today laid foundation stone of 50 bedded Sub-District Hospital at Jourian in presence of Jammu-Poonch Constituency Member Parliament, Madan Lal Sharma.
This modern type of two storyed building will be constructed by JK Housing Board with an estimated cost of Rs 1686.40 lakh and made functional within a period of two years.
OBC Vice Chairman, Kuldeep Raj Verma, Director Health Services Jammu, Dr Madhu Khullar, Mission Director NRHM, Dr Yashpal Sharma, MD J&K Housing Board, Kiran Wattal, Director Horticulture, J N Sharma, Director Floriculture, K K Sharma, Drug Controlled, Satish Gupta, Deputy Director ISM, Kashmir Singh, CMO Jammu, SDM Akhnoor, Nagendra Singh Jamwal Sectoral Officers, Sarpanchs and Panchs were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sham said that Coalition Government under the leadership of Omar Abdullah is focusing on infrastructural development of two core sectors-health and education. The 50 bedded Sub-District Hospital of Jourian is also part of the ongoing process, he added.
He appealed the people particularly public representatives to cooperate with the executive agencies for smooth and timely construction of all the ongoing prestigious projects being executed under various schemes in their respective areas.
Highlighting development works in Akhnoor Tehsil, he said that 4 bridges on river Chenab have been completed and 2 more bridges will be constructed soon for the benefit of the general masses. He reiterated the resolve of Government to develop the health infrastructure on modern lines as per the requirements of the people in every nook and corner of the State.
He said that Government is keen to shift the power seat from administration to grass root level public representatives so that they are involved in decision making and implementation of development programme.
On the occasion, Mr Madan said that present regime has introduced revolutionary reforms in various sectors across the State whether it is health, education, agriculture, horticulture, tourism, power and PHE etc for the benefit, welfare and upliftment of socio-economic status of masses. He said tourism is the sector which directly or indirectly benefits the masses as it is the people oriented sector and their participation is vital for the development.
Later, the Minister visited village Sitaryal, Mara and Muthi Mara and assessed the loss caused due to recent flash floods and instructed the concerned authority to prepared a comprehensive plan in this regard.
