AKHNOOR, Dec 1: Minister for PHE I&FC, Sham Lal Sharma has again sought the mandate of people from Akhnoor constituency for the third consecutive term on the basis of his last 12 years’ performance.
While addressing huge gathering before filing his nomination papers from Akhnoor Assembly constituency today, Mr Sharma, Congress candidate, appealed the people to render him support on the basis of his performance in last two terms. He said development is the only agenda of Congress party and he is vigorously pursuing the same.
A strong gathering welcomed Mr Sharma garlanding him profusely amidst slogans “Jammu Ki Majboori Hai, Sham Lal Ki Kamyabi Zaroori Hai”. He expressed his satisfaction that while his struggle for CM from Jammu will continue, under political compulsions some political forces who compromised with separatists, even hijacked Hurriyat Conference agenda for their vested political interests.
Mr Sharma claimed that in the changed political scenario, his pledge as incorporated in Congress election Manifesto about demand for Regional Development Council hopefully becoming reality as people feel next State Government to be formed by Congress after voting as single largest party in the Assembly.
He reminded people of Akhnoor that when they elected him as their MLA first time given three targets, a Degree College at Akhnoor another bridge on Chenab and up-gradation of Govt Girls High School which not only were fulfilled but Akhnoor Constituency was given new shape and vision to be Model Constituency in Jammu region with attention on development of infrastructure claimed administration streamlined to make the areas crime free. Mr Sharma said new hospital, dispensaries, roads, tube wells, lift irrigation scheme, cause ways, vented cause ways to ensure all season, connectivity of remote Kandi and hilly areas has come up.
New Administrative units, Sub- district Status to remote and backwards areas of Chowki Choura, Tehsil and Niabat, besides Tehsil at Jourian and Mandrian whereas Niabats at Rah-Salyote, Ghar Majoor, Chowki Choura, Kathar, Devipur and Bhalwal Brahmana have een provided. He re-pledged that his vision of Model Akhnoor constituency will be sole agenda which is his firm belief and life long goal.
Madan Lal Sharma, senior Congress leader and former MP while seeking popular mandate for Sham Lal said that he equally shared with them their compliments for Sham Lal Sharma who during 12 years developed Akhnoor as near Model constituency. He claimed that Sham Lal Sharma who emerged as bold choice of Jammu region should be sent to the Assembly with splendid victory.
