Sham Lal inspects Pokhribal water treatment plant

SRINAGAR: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Shaml Lal Choudhary today visited Pokhribal and Kohimaran water treatment plant to take stock of their functioning.

Chief Engineer PHE Kashmir, Abdul Wahid, Chief Engineer I&FC, Mir Mohammad Shahnawaz, senior engineers and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.

The Minister enquired about the quality of water supplied to various localities from Pokhribal treatment plant. He assured the locals, who met him on the occasion that quality water will be supplied from the plant.

He directed the concerned engineers to complete the construction of Activated Carbon Chamber and commission it by April 15 this year to address the issue of odour as is being complained by the public.

The Minister also inspected the storage facility of the water treatment plant Kohimaran in view of complaints about its functioning. He took a detailed stock of the plant and directed the concerned to have its face-lifting done.

He directed the officers to put in their sincere efforts in making full use of available resources so that safe drinking water is made available to the people. He also directed the officers to maintain cleanliness in and around the area of water treatment plants so that clean water can be supplied to people.

Later, Sham Lal toured Badamwari area and also paid obeisance at Gurudwara Chatti Patshahi.
