Sham inaugurates first aid centre at Transport Nagar

JAMMU, June 1: Minister for Health, Floriculture and Horticulture, Sham Lal Sharma today inaugurated First Aid Medical Centre at Transport Nagar to extend healthcare facilities to transporters, drivers and cleaners.
Elaborating on the purpose of opening such medical centres, the Minister said that it is the endeavour of the Omar led Government that every section of the society is ensured best medicare which is pre requisite for a healthy and harmonious society. He said that during the past over three years the Government has launched a number of healthcare programmes aimed at ensuring advanced diagnostic and treatment services to the people. He appealed the people to help the department in maintaining the infrastructure and hygiene in hospitals so that they could be provided adequate health care services without any disturbance.
Later, the Minister inaugurated an AIDS Awareness-cum-Aryuvedic camp organized by the Directorate of Health in collaboration with Helping Hand, an NGO.
The objective of the camp was to create awareness among the transport fraternity regarding the consequences of this dreaded disease besides telling them about the preventive measures. Besides, free medicines were also distributed among the participants.
Among others, Controller Drugs, Satish Gupta, Director Horticulture, J. N. Sharma, Director Floriculture, K. K. Sharma, Dy. Director AIDS, Deepka Thakur, Deputy Director Central, Baldev Raj Sharma, Deputy Director, ISM, Kashmir Singh Manhas, CMO, Jammu, Doctors, para medicos, President, Trucks, Tanker Transport Yard Union and Drivers and cleaners were also present on the occasion.
