JOURIAN (AKHNOOR), Jan 16: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma today inaugurated 6th branch of Civil Kendriya Vidyalaya at Jourian.
Vice Chairman OBC Advisory Board, Kuldeep Verma, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Sanjeev Verma, Deputy Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) Jammu, A.S.Gil, senior officers of KVS, Sarpanchs/Panchs, prominent citizens, teachers, sectoral officers of various departments and large number of students were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Government was committed to spread quality education in every nook and corner of the State and opening of Kendriya Vidyalaya at Jourian is an attempt to promote educational scenario in the border area. He further said that Government has established a large number of new schools and upgraded existing ones to provide educational facilities to the students at their door step. He asked the people to provide good education to their wards which was the only tool for the overall development of the human being.
Giving credit for opening the branch of Civil Kendriya Vidyalaya at Jourian to MP Madan Lal Sharma, the Minister said that Member Parliament has made personal efforts to get the Vidyalaya sanctioned for this border town. He said initially the classes will run in a make shift accommodation of Community Centre and shortly a full-fledged building of the school will be constructed at an identified site. He hoped that the children of armed forces and civil population will take benefit of the school.
Addressing first public gathering after getting the portfolio of new Ministry, the Minister said that his priority will be to provide improved drinking water facilities across the State. He said he will assess the entire scenario of drinking water and fix his priorities with special focus on Kandi and dry belt which face scarcity of water during the summer months.
On the occasion, the Minister also distributed Kissan Credit Cards amongst 800 farmers of Akhnoor.
