SRINAGAR, May 7: The Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma on Monday inaugurated first ever one day voluntary Blood Donation Camp at Government Kashmir Nursing Home, Gupkar-Srinagar. The camp was jointly organised by Directorate of Health Services and Department of Haematology and Transfusion Medicines, Government Medical College, Srinagar.
More than 50 persons including, Director of Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, Mission Director, NRHM, Dr. Yaspal Sharma and a number of employees of the Directorate of Health Services and Nursing Home especially the women employees donated their blood voluntarily .
Meanwhile, the Minister asked the Superintendent of Nursing Home to initiate the process of Chemotherapy services for cancer patients in collaboration with reputed national services providers on the pattern of services being provided at Government Hospital Gandhinagar Jammu.
Later, Sham Lal interacted with Female Multipurpose Health Workers (FMHW) of the various districts of the Valley and enquired about their day to day services rendered by them to the common people. He asked them to visit far flung areas and create awareness among the people especially among rural pregnant women folk about cleanliness, sanitation, precautionary measures, and titbits about keeping good health for healthy and sound children.
