AKHNOOR, Jan 15: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma has expressed serious concern over the declining developmental graph in the State.
Addressing Congress activists during monthly Block Congress Committee meeting at Chowki Choura today, Sham Lal lashed out at the previous BJP- PDP Govt for its utter failure in all spheres in the State. He said that BJP has played with the sentiments of the people of Jammu as they were claiming to be the sole champions of the aspirations of people of Jammu region.
Mr Sharma alleged that the MNREGA which is the only source of income of rural people is being misused and compounded with corruption. There is political consideration while awarding the works under this scheme. He expressed his concern over the functioning of MNREGA as the Panchayat aren’t taken into confidence while awarding the works and the same is allotted to the people of ruling party.
Sham Lal further said that there is uncertainty in the State as no Govt is functioning at present. All the developmental works have come to halt. There is no popular Govt as a result people of the State are suffering very badly. He further said that BJP & PDP have shaken the confidence of the people of the State by making false promises during election, which were never fulfilled.
He further said that Congress has already stated that there has been no development what so ever during the previous BJP- PDP Government & the same has now been ratified by the PDP president herself that’s why she has asked to review the ‘Agenda of Alliance.’
Others who spoke on the occasion included Kuldeep Verma Ex- vice chairman of OBC Board, Parmanand Puri Block convenor Chowki Choura , Sarpanchs- Ramesh Chander, Baldev Raj, Raj Kumar, Darshan Lal and Kewal Kumar.
