JAMMU: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today inaugurated newly constructed Community Hall and Sanitary Complex here at Sai Kalan (Dewar Camp) in Block Suchetgarh.
The Community Hall and Sanitary Complex has been constructed by Rural Development Department at a cost of Rs. 30 lakh under BADP.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that with the construction of these assets, the long pending demand of the people of this area has been fulfilled. He said that government is working hard to ensure development of all the regions of the state especially rural and far-off pockets. He said that several developmental projects have been completed and more are in pipeline to give fillip to the development in the state.
Highlighting the utility of community assets being constructed by the government, the Minister said that people can arrange social as well as religious functions in community hall on nominal charges. He appealed the people to protect and maintain public assets as their own property.
Later, the Minister convened a public redressal camp where the people from Sai Kalan and surrounding areas apprised the Minister about their demands which included improvement of power and water supply, repair of lanes and drains, road connectivity, construction of toilet complex, addition of beneficiaries in BPL category and clearance of pending applications for widow/old age pension.
The Minister assured them that their demands and grievances would be redressed on priority basis.
Senior functionaries of PHE, RDD and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
