JAMMU: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today directed the revenue authorities to take appropriate measures to facilitate the displaced families from (PoK) enabling them to avail hassle-free benefits of special financial package of the Central Government.
The Minister issued these instructions while addressing the meeting of Revenue officers at Suchetgarh. He directed the Patwaris to sit in their respective Patwar Halqas and display the requisite formalities for getting the relief package. The contact numbers of Patwaris should also be displayed outside their offices for the convenience of the concerned people, he added.
Later, a delegation of PoK displaced persons hailing from village Sai and other adjoining areas apprised the Minister about the problems being faced by them with regard to completion of formalities viz-a-viz preparation of requisite revenue documents for getting first installment of relief package.
The Minister informed them that the government has taken various measures to simplify the relief distribution process and make it a hassle-free affair.
Earlier, the Minister also attended the Annual Day function of Divine Light Convent School at Dablehar in RS Pura.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the teaching fraternity must focus on inculcating quality education to the students, besides moral education to instill the knowledge of social values, culture and heritage of the State and country so that they can contribute towards the nation building.
Sham Choudhary called upon the all the educational institutions, whether private or government to regularly organize events of sports, debates, seminars, declamation contests, painting competitions, symposiums and other co-curricular activities to nurture the hidden talent of the students in these activities.
Appreciating the cultural performances presented by the students, the Minister said these activities also take children closer to their social, cultural and ethnic values. These kinds of programmes should be organized on regular intervals, he added.
Chairman of the School, Jagdish Gupta, Principal Rinku Sharma, staff, students and parents were present in the programme.
