BANIHAL, July 3: National Conference leader and district secretary Ramban, Sajjad Shaheen, visited remote areas of the Tehsil including Batibass, Lotsir, Shagan, Halla, Higni and listened to the problems of the people. He addressed a number of public meetings, met many public delegations and individuals.
Besides, day-to-day problems like non-availability of drinking water, electricity, road connectivity, health care facilities, the people complained about the irregularities and misappropriation of funds under MGNREGA in the panchayat.
People also demanded opening of a dispensary in Bhatibass, a veterinary centre and construction of link road from Hirnihal to Shagan via Bhatibass.
Regarding irregularities in MGNREGA, Shaheen said the matter will be brought into the notice of the higher ups. A probe will be conducted to ascertain the facts and if anybody found guilty he would be punished under specific law.
Shaheen assured the public that their genuine problems will be brought into the notice of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for redressal.
