BANIHAL, Feb 5: National Conference Ramban district president, Sajjad Shaheen, today lashed at People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for bartering the interests of Jammu and Kashmir for few loaves of power, saying the people were feeling let down both on political and developmental fronts.
“By allowing itself to be an extension of Nagpur in Kashmir, the PDP has betrayed those who voted for it, knowing well the political deception of its leaders in various guises from time to time”, Shaheen said while addressing a day-long convention of office bearers and delegates from all over the district.
Shaheen said PDP’s political misadventure has pushed the State in a chaotic situation and unprecedented instability with people feeling sense of alienation and insecurity. He said the political surrender of the PDP to divisive BJP has hugely impacted the governance and in the process development has come to grinding halt.
He said the developmental initiatives taken during the tenure of Omar Abdullah as Chief Minister have either been abandoned or are getting least attention. The people, especially those of remote and far-flung areas, were hugely suffering on account of utility services, which are in a highly dilapidated condition, he said, adding that power and drinking water supply is erratic and rations are scare at the sale-outlets.
Referring to the poor health care facilities across the district, Shaheen complained about lack of medicines and diagnostic facilities in the Sub District Hospital Banihal, Emergency Hospital, Ukhrahal and health centres at Ramsoo, Khari, and Neel, besides various sub-centres in the Banihal Assembly Constituency. Similar is the situation in other parts of the district, he added.
Shaheen expressed concern over lackadaisical administrative response to the sufferings of people, particularly during the ongoing winter season, as supply position of various essentials got disrupted due to frequent closure of the Highway.
