JAMMU, June 1: Bhagat Mahasabha J&K unit observed 52nd Shaheedi Divas of Bhagat Amar Nath at Anand Nagar, here today.
Bhagat Amar Nath had attained martyrdom on June 1, 1970 for the cause of reservation to downtrodden. A large number of people from the reserved category attended the function and paid homage to the hero of reservation.
On the occasion, Mahinder Bhagat (president, Bhagat Mahasabha) put light on the life history of Bhagat Amar Nath. He disclosed that Bhagat Saab was very much committed and determined to sacrifice his life for the victimized, deprived and exploited downtrodden masses.
Further, he added that the Bhagat Saab had great resentment over denial of reservation right by the then J&K Govt against which he sat on fast unto death and and achieved martyrdom on June 1, 1970.
Jai Bhagat (State co- ordinator) and Bodh Raj Bhagat (National vice president) also spoke on the occasion.
