Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s birth anniversary observed

JAMMU, Sept 29: Desh Bhagat Yadgaar Committee organized a programme in connection with the birth anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh at Maharani Chand Kour Hall Gurudwara Guru Nanak Dev Ji complex Chand Nagar, here under the leadership of Sukhdev Singh, convener of the Committee.
A large number of senior trade union leaders, prominent citizens and others attended the function and shared their views.
While speaking on the occasion, Sukhdev Singh said, “ We salute the Shaheed Bhagat Singh for the martyrdom and his indomitable valour & patriotism that inspires generations. In the prime of his youth, he sacrificed his live so that generations after him can breathe the air of freedom in India.”
The speakers said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s trial has been described by the Supreme Court as “contrary to the fundamental doctrine of criminal jurisprudence” because there was no opportunity for the accused to defend themselves. The Special Tribunal was a departure from the normal procedure adopted for a trial and its decision could only be appealed to the Privy Council located in Britain.
The participants demanded that keeping in view the sacrifice of the legend, the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir should immediately direct the concerned department to install his statue at Jewel Chowk and also maintain it. The participants also said that “We will agitate with the British Government to tender apology for executing Bhagat Singh.
They said that on this day we appeal to the Government to regularize all daily wagers, need base employees. Revoke SRO 202.
“We appreciate the lawyers who have taken up the matter for reopening the case of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The speakers appealed that books written by Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his other belongings which are lying in Pakistan be bring back to India. The speaker further appealed to the Government to declare the Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev as Shaheeds and the Government will take up the matter with England Government for bringing back the belongings of  Shaheed Udham Singh from England.
Prominent among those present in the meeting included Shivnand Singh, Adv Jamil Ahmed Kazmi, Ritender Koul, Shivrattan, Om Parkash , Kirtan Singh, Nirmal Singh Karanti, RS Balowiria, Pritam Singh, Rajinder Singh and Jaswant Singh.
