HYDERABAD : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah arrived here today from  New Delhi on a three-day visit to Telangana to strengthen  the party organisation from grassroots level and to make it a strong contender to take over the reins of power in the state in 2019 elections.
A large number of state party leaders and cadres accorded Mr.Shah a warm welcome on his arrival at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad near here.
Mr.Shah accompanied by state BJP leaders drove to the backward Nalgonda district where he will visit  remote villages (a village a day ) and  interact with villagers on various development schemes initiated by the Modi Government.
The BJP Chief is expected to educate the state party leaders on the ways to strengthen the party organisation from the polling booth level.
Mr Shah’s visit assumes significance as the party in the state exudes confidence to replicate the party’s performance in Uttar Pradesh  where in the pre-poll scenario had been placed in the third position behind Samajwadi Party and BSP but eventually the BJP had recorded a massive win in UP.
Similarly, in Telangana too, the BJP finds itself in third position behind the ruling TRS and the main opposition Congress.
Party’s State Unit President K Laxman is confident that the BJP will create history in Telangana in 2019 by wresting power. He said that there was a Modi wave in the country and Mr.Shah’s visit would bring  about a sea- change in the state politics.
After ending his three-day tour of Nalgonda, Mr Shah will come back to Hyderabad on May 24 to hold booth-level workers meeting in Karwan, as Assembly segment of Hyderabad Lok Sabha Constituency now represented by Majlis Chief Asaduddin Owaisi. (AGENCIES)
