Shabir distributes engagement orders to 136 doctors

JAMMU, Feb 28: In a bid to fill up vacant posts of doctors for providing improved  health care facilities to the people living in  difficult and inaccessible areas, the Government has engaged 136 unemployed doctors under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).
In this regard, Minister of State for Health (Independent Charge), Shabir Ahmed Khan, distributed engagement and posting orders among selected doctors at an impressive function held at NRHM office here today.
Mission Director, NRHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma and other senior functionaries of the health society were present on the occasion.
Addressing the selected doctors, the Minister emphasized upon them to work with devotion and dedication for ailing especially living in remote and hilly terrain.
The Minister said that Government endeavour is  to provide improved health care facilities to people of the State, adding that in this regard flagship programme NRHM is playing a vital role for up-gradation of health infrastructure besides, enhancement of man power in health institutions.
He said the Government, during last few years, have so far engaged over 530 unemployed doctors and posted them in different health institutions in the State under this mission. He said  incentives are being provided to these doctors for working in difficult, very difficult and inaccessible areas, adding that doctors working  in these areas are being given honorarium from  Rs.30,000  to Rs.45,000 per month.
Mission Director, NRHM Dr Yashpal Sharma highlighted different programmes of this mission being implemented for over all development of health sector in the State.
He also deliberated on physical and financial achievements registered under NRHM during last few years. He said focussed attention is being given to improve health care facilities for mother, child, besides adolescents under several components of NRHM and tangible achievements recorded on this front especially in rural and hilly areas.
Dr. Yashpal said that State Health Society has organised several orientation programmes to acquaint the doctors with various components of NRHM so that they would deliver better in the field for percolating full benefits to the common people.
