SGPB, DGPCs, others to receive Nagar Kirtan at Lakhanpur tomorrow

JAMMU, Aug 2: Chairman State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board, TS Wazir (Ex-MLC) today said that SGPB and various District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committes of the State besides Sikh religious bodies and public in general, would received historic Nagar Kirtan, started from Nankana Sahib in Pak, at Lakhanpur, the gate way of J&K, on August 4.
Addressing a press conference here today, Wazir who was flanked by various other members of the Board and DGPCs, besides heads of Sikh religious bodies, referred to the schedule of historic International Nagar Kirtan commemorating 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev ji, which started from Nankana Sahib, the birth place of Guru Nanak Dev ji on August Ist, 2019 to spread Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings of eternal love, peace, equality and brotherhood across the globe and has entered India from Pakistan, through Wagah border in Punjab.
Wazir informed that the historic Nagar Kirtan will enter Jammu and Kashmir via Lakhanpur on August 4 at 9 AM, where a grand welcome has been arranged by State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board in coordination with different District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committees of Jammu region under the patronage of Mahant Manjit Singh ji of Dera Nangali Sahib, Poonch and Sant Tejwant Singh of Santpura Danna.
Prominent citizens and higher Govt functionaries along with Sangat of Jammu and Kashmir will reach Lakhanpur in large numbers to offer a grand welcome to the Nagar Kirtan, he added.
Wazir said District Gurdwara Parbandhak Commitees of Rajouri-Nowshera, Udhampur, Samba and Kathua have decided to send a large number of buses and other modes of transport to facilitate the Sangat to reach Lakhanpur for the grand welcome. Similarly, State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board and DGPC Jammu have also made elaborate arrangements of transport for Sangat of Jammu and adjoining areas.
After crossing through Lakhanpur, Kathua, Samba and Vijaypur the Nagar Kirtan will reach Kunjwani at about 5 PM, where another grand welcome has been arranged.
From Kunjwani the Nagar Kirtan will proceed for onward journey to Gurdwara Yadgar Guru Nanak Dev ji, Chand Nagar, Gumat in Jammu where Kirtan Darbar will continue till the conclusion of Nagar Kirtan.
On August 5, at about 9 AM the Nagar Kirtan will proceed for return journey from Jammu to Dasua in Punjab.
Wazir invited the Sangat of Jammu and Kashmir in particular and citizens from all walks of life representing different social, religious and political organisations to welcome the Yatra to seek blessings of the great Guru and to make the occasion a memorable one .
Jagjit Singh president DGPC Jammu, members Kuldeep Singh, Fateh Singh, Mohinder Singh Darbinder Singh, HS Raina, Ramnik Singh and others were also present.
