JAMMU, Aug 26: State Government Employees Joint Action Committee (SGEJAC) today decided to take out massive Mashal rallies in support of their pending demands in Srinagar and Jammu Divisional headquarters on September 10.
Addressing a joint press conference here today, senior SGEJAC members Suresh Sharma, Aijaz Khan, Subash Verma, Sushil Sudan and Babu Hussain Malik said that Government has turned deaf ear towards their demands despite repeated assurances. In order to intensify their struggle and press the Government for conceding employees’ pending issues, the Joint Action Committee has now decided to take out large Mashal rallies at Srinagar as well as in Jammu on September 10.
In Jammu, the torch light procession will be taken out by the employees from Press Club to the official residence of Chief Minister on Wazarat Road and in Srinagar the Mashal rally would be taken out from Press Enclave to the residence of Chief Minister at Gupkar Road in the evening around 6.30 pm. They also issued appeal to the employees from all the departments and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to actively participate in this protest programme.
They alleged that Government has failed to address pending demands of the employees which included removal of pay anomalies of clerical cadre, regularization of daily wagers, contractual and consolidated workers, release of 10 % DA, enhancement of Medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000, restructuring of PSUs etc.
These leaders warned the Government to resolve their pending issues otherwise, employees would be left with the only option to come out on the roads and intensify struggle.
