Several NYC employees hospitalized as hunger strike enters 8th day

SRINAGAR, Sept 8: The hunger strike of employees of National Youth Corps (NYC) entered 8th day here in city centre while three of them were hospitalized following health deterioration.
Hundreds of NYC employees are camping at Pratap Park of Lal Chowk here since last 7 days and today was the eight day of their hunger strike protest. The NYC employees are demanding implementation of a Cabinet order vis-à-vis their induction into 14 Government departments.
Not only male employees are on hunger strike but their female counterparts are also participating in it. A spokesman of the NYC employees said that three employees namely Pradeep from Rajouri , Ranbir Singh from Ramban and Ishfaq from Ganderbal were hospitalized today.
Meanwhile, the former speaker of Assembly and National Conference legislator Mubarak Gul visited the protest venue and expressed sympathy with the NYC employees. He urged the Coalition Government to redress their grievances in short span of time. The NC leader said that the appointments were not back door but merit based.
