MENDHAR, Oct 3: Dozens of land mine explosions along the Line of Control created panic in Balakote area of Mendhar in district Poonch last night.
Reports said that Forest fire which started from that side of the Line of Control also went on spreading to this side of the fence. From Khala Draman area in Balakote it covered around 2-3 sq km of area. It caused dozens of land mine explosion throughout the night. The Army went on alert as some gadgets installed along the fence also came under the fire range.
The Army and Forest Department launched operation and contained the fire today. It is suspected that fire was deliberately ignited to ensure militants’ infiltration from that side.
