POONCH, Oct 30: Scores of land mines exploded as the forest fire spread along the Line of Control (LoC) in forward Degwar area of Poonch sector this evening.
Official sources said that forest fire which started from POK side, spread near the Line of Control and also in some forward areas of Degwar sub sector late this evening. Several mines exploded with big bang, creating scare in the adjoining villages.
The deafening sounds of mine explosions were also heard from Poonch town. The army and civil administration sounded alert in the adjoining villages and hamlets near LoC. The troops were busy in dousing fire flames till late evening. No much damage was reported but the fire had reached near some defence installations, the reports said.
