SRINAGAR, May 29 : Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, met several deputations here today.
A delegation of media-persons from Chhattisgarh, which is on a study tour to J&K, also called on the Chief Minister.
Led by Mohan Rao, Chairperson, Press Gallery Committee, Chhattisgarh, the delegation informed Mufti Sayeed that during their visit to J&K, they are looking forward to get firsthand experience on how legislative business is conducted and covered in the State. The team of journalists has already visited Himachal Pradesh.
A deputation of Islamia College Teachers Association (ICTA), led by its President Prof. Abdul Majeed, highlighted the issues confronting the college, in particular, its teaching and non-teaching staff.
The Chief Minister informed the delegation that he will soon convene a meeting of the Governing Board of the College to resolve the issues raised by the Association.
A deputation of Hari Singh High Street Traders’ Association also met Mufti Sayeed and requested for proper rehabilitation of Municipal Building Shopkeepers, who have been relocated due to Jahangir Chowk-Ram Bagh Flyover.
The Chief Minister assured the delegation that he will get their representation examined for necessary action.
In his meeting with a delegation of Wings and Shalimar Exhibition, led by Akeel Hassan, the Chief Minister issued directions to Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, to examine their representation for appropriate action.
Another delegation of Salamabad-Chakoti Traders’ Union, led by its President Tariq Ahmad Khan, met the Chief Minister and requested for promotion of cross-LoC trade by inclusion of more items.
Mufti Sayeed assured the delegation that he will review cross-LoC trade so that it is made vibrant. He said inclusion of banking and telecom facilities, people-to-people contact and introduction of luxury coaches will be taken up to facilitate the trade and people-to-people contact across the LoC.
A team from HDFC Bank, including Ravi Narayanan, Senior Executive Vice President, Head Branch Banking West, and Zubair Iqbal, Circle / State Head, J&K, also met the Chief Minister and discussed various issues concerning the banking sector.
During the meeting, HDFC Bank agreed to adopt two educational institutions to be identified under CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility).
