SRINAGAR, May 3: Seven residential structures were completely gutted in a fierce blaze at Shaeen Colony in Noorbagh neighbourhood on Old City outskirts.
A top official of Fire and Emergency Services Department told Excelsior that the fire erupted in a residential structure at Shaheen Colony at 2:04 PM and engulfed six other strictures used for residential purpose. He said the cause of the fire was electric short circuit.
He said fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading further.
Reports said the fire has rendered 14 families houseless while the Government has provided nine tents to them, besides Rs 2000 cash and 5 kilogram free rice to each family as temporary relief.
