JAMMU, Apr 4: Ramban, Kishtwar and Lakhanpur Police arrested seven drug peddlers along with contraband.
As per police sources, after specific inputs, a team from Police Station Chanderkote led by SHO Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary and assisted by PSI Ankush Bhau and PSI Sunil Singh under the supervision of Additional SP Ramban Rajni Sharma and SSP Ramban PD Nitya laid a check point at Chanderkote.
During checking the team intercepted a vehicle and recovered 10 grams heroin like substance from the possession of the two occupants of the vehicle. They were immediately taken into custody and the vehicle was seized. The search was conducted in the presence of the Magistrate, Saif Ullah Shah.
The accused have been identified as Nazir Ahmed, son of Mohammad Shafi, a resident of Ghagwal Parnot and Reyaz Ahmed, son of Gulab Din, a resident of Bhati Metra District Ramban.
A case under FIR Number 25/2021 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chanderkote and investigation initiated.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Kishtwar laid a naka at Shalimar and apprehended three persons along with cannabis.
The arrested persons were identified as Jaffar Hussain, son of Abdul Latief of Semna Colony, Sohail Ahmed, son of Irshad Ahmed and Jaffer Hussain, son of Mohammad Shafi, both residents of Tatani Saroor.
A case under FIR Number 58/2021 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Kishtwar Inspector Abid Bukhari and assisted by SI Harnam Singh made the arrests under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kishtwar Devindar Singh and Additional SP Kishtwar Mushim Ahmed.
However, a team from Police Station Lakhanpur led by PSI Yousuf Lone along with Anti Drug Unit and other Police Officials under the Guidance of SHO Lakhanpur Inspector Sumit Sharma laid a naka and intercepted a Punjab bound truck bearing registration number PB06K-2925.
During checking, police team recovered 3 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver and his associate.
The arrested persons were identified as Parminder Singh, son of Mohan Singh and Hardeep Singh, son of Harbajan Singh, both residents of Jalandhar.
A case under FIR Number 50/2021 has been registered at Police Station Lakhanpur and investigation started.
