Seven arrested with contraband, sharp edged weapon

JAMMU, Apr 29: Bahu Fort, Satwari and Nowabad Police arrested seven drug peddlers and recovered contraband and sharp edged weapon from their possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information a team from Police Station Bahu Fort Inspector Nayat Ali and sleuths of District Special Branch (DSB) under the supervision of SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafri laid a naka and intercepted three persons, who were moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 16 kilograms of ganja from the possession of these persons and arrested them.
The arrested persons were identified as Ganga Ram, Rahim Chand and Jaiprakash, all residents of Chattisgarh, ay present Roop Nagar District Jammu.
A case FIR Number 121/2022 under Section 8/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station Satwari led by SHO Inspector Sameer Jiilani under the supervision of SDPO South Sachit Sharma and SP South Mamta Sharma laid a naka and arrested three drug peddlers along with 14 kilograms of ganja.
The accused were identified as Sunjay Kumar, son of Shiv Narayan, Rajesh Kumar, son of Karam Singh and Jai Shankar, son of Vaid Ram, all residents of Chattisgarh.
A case FIR Number 81/2022 under Section 8/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Satwari and investigation started.
However, a team from Police Station Nowabad led by SHO Inspector Vijay Kumar under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Jammu Swati Sharma laid a naka at fourth bridge on river Tawi near Bhagwati Nagar and arrested a drug peddler along with 8 grams heroin and a sharp edged weapon.
A case FIR Number 48/2022 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act and 4/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation initiated.
