Seva Dal leader claims attack on him

SRINAGAR, Nov 19: Police are investigating the claim of District Organiser of Congress Seva Dal for Anantnag district that his residence was attacked by militants and he escaped unhurt.
According to Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Ramzan Sheikh of village Kralmand in Dooru area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, militants attacked his residence last night and his guards repulsed the attack.
Sheikh, district president of Congress Seva Dal, had migrated from his village due to militant threats several years ago but returned only few days back.
He reported to the police that his guards repulsed a militant attack on his residence.
SHO Dooru rushed to the spot and rescued Sheikh during the night. He was given shelter in the police station for the night.
Police suspected that Sheikh might have faked the attack to get more security cover as they have found no evidence of attack from the spot. Police are now investigating the matter.
