Settlement of Rohingyas in Jammu dangerous: PK

JAMMU, June 16: Panun Kashmir (PK) expressed concern over the settlement of Rohingya refugees in Jammu.
In a meeting held in Jammu to take note of growing concern over the presence of such foreigners from Bangladesh and Myanmar, the convener of Panun Kashmir Ravinder Jalali said that such a settlement is dangerous and threat to the security of the already disturbed State. The Rohingya refugees, who fled from Myanmar are easy to fall prey to Islamic radicalization, he added.
The president of Panun Kashmir Vijay Bhat said that recently it was found that these Rohingyas are involved in illegal activities and have managed ration cards, voter cards, Aadhar cards and some have obtained PRCs (State Subject) and have raised residential houses on State land. This could not have been possible with out the connivance of Government and revenue officials. The police have detailed report about their activities and those responsible for arranging these documents needs to be booked and punished under law, said Bhat added.
While addressing the members he said that these refugees are helped by some NGOs in providing them education in Madrasas where the children are radicalised. Interestingly most of the refugees are living in Narwal Bala area on the outskirts of Jammu city. Though the police has decided to make a list of the Rohingyas refugees to keep a watch on their activities in Jammu but the core issue is to investigate the motive behind their influx in Jammu. “Who brought and guided them to Jammu? How they could travel to such a far off place from Myanmar, when so many big cities, towns and capital cities, where there are ample opportunities of employment and earnings but instead come to Jammu”, said Vijay Bhat.
