Sessions Judge orders strict adherence to COVID-19 circular

SRINAGAR, June 15: After a court employee tested positive in Srinagar, the Principal District and Sessions Judge of the district has instructed the judicial officers to strictly adhere to the circulars issued by the High Court while taking up urgent matters in order to prevent from the spread of Corona Virus (COVID-19).
The Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar, Abdul Rashid Malik issued the order to prevent the spread of Corona Virus and to ensure smooth functioning of District and Subordinate Courts at Srinagar in compliance of circulars issued by the High Court in this regard.
The Judicial Officers from the rank of Additional Munsiff Srinagar to 1st Additional District & Sessions Judge Srinagar and their staff have been asked to remain available at all times to deal with the emergent nature through virtual mode from their residences.
It is mentioned that the Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar has nominated 15 judicial officers for taking up urgent matters like bails, remand and urgent matters in Civil and Criminal through virtual mode from 15 June to 28 June.
These Judicial Officers have been nominated to deal with the urgent matter following the directions issued by the Chief Justice for functioning of courts during lockdown as announced by the Government.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar shall continue as Nodal Officer in light of the circular of High Court for the purpose of assistance of any court staff in distress, need or difficulty of any kind.
The order of PDJ further reads that if any officer who is reported at any time to be in home or administrative quarantine under the medical supervision and with due permission of competent authority shall be exempted from the assigned duties.
These instructions followed after the identification of one positive COVID-19 in the district court complex Srinagar on June 13. The official whose test of result came as positive is working as System Assistant in the e-court complex Srinagar and hails from Kargil and had arrived to Srinagar under proper permission from divisional commissioner Ladakh.
In this connection a committee of 6 judicial officers in coordination with the CMO Srinagar has been constituted to collect the list of contact of the positive COVID-19 patient in the court complex Srinagar so as to enable to take immediate and necessary steps to put the contacts in Home or Administrative Quarantine.
