BJP leaders pay obeisance to Guru Ravi Dass

JAMMU, Feb 26: In an impressive and largely attended function at party headquarters, here, today organized by Neelam Langeh, BJP SC Morcha president & former MLA, the party leaders highlighted various aspects of the life of Guru Ravi Dass, while celebrating the Prakash Utsav of the great saint.
The function commenced with laying wreaths at the portrait of Guru Ravi Dass by BJP State president, Ravinder Raina, general secretary (Organization), Ashok Koul, general secretary & former Minister, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, general secretary & former MLC Vibodh Gupta, SC Morcha president & former MLA, Neelam Langeh, Morcha general secretary, Adrash Jathiar and other leaders.
Ravinder Raina, while addressing the massive gathering on this occasion, said that India, the Bharat, has been known as a land of rich culture, heritage, religious values and noble traditions. On this land, many spiritual and religious saints were born and Guru Ravi Dass, one such among them, earned the most respectable and revered place in the society of his times. He said that Guru Ravi Dass was born in a poor family and faced poverty, atrocities, and insults but did not deviate from his path of Bhakti and came to be known as Sant Shiromani.
BJP general secretary & former Minister, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, said that the community has the responsibility to preach the message and teachings of Guru Ravi Dass to get united to defeat the social evils and excel to lead a respectable and dignified life. He stressed on educating the children in the families and motivate them to earn education to be respectable citizens.
SC Morcha president & former MLA, Neelam Langeh said that a ‘Guru works as a bridge to fill the gap between the public and the God and Guru Ravi Dass contributed a lot in this regard in the social service. He said that this great saint had become an institution in himself by his inclination towards spiritualism and zeal to end the caste-based social practice and build an all-embracing society.
The gathering was also addressed by former MLAs Kuldeep Kumar, Dr. Krishan Lal and Prof. Gharu Ram, former VC Balbir Ram Rattan read a welcome note, Morcha Seh Prabhari Jeet Angral presented a vote of thanks and the proceedings were conducted by Morcha vice-president B.R. Rao.
