RAMBAN, July 24: A septuagenarian woman was killed while a couple was injured after an ambulance rolled down into Chakwa nallah near Batote here today.
As per police sources, a ambulance bearing registration number JK06-8241 was on its way to a hospital in Srinagar from GMC Doda, when the driver lost control over the wheels and the vehicle rolled down into Chakwa nallah today evening, resulting into on the spot death of a septuagenarian lady and injuries to a couple.
After getting information, police team led by SHO Batote Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of locals.
Two injured persons were rescued and shifted to CHC Batote, where they were responding to the treatment, when last reports came in.
The deceased was identified as Hasina Begum (73), wife of late Bhadar Malik of Tantna Tehsil Gondoh District Doda, while the injured were identified as Mohammad Ameen Malik (35), son of Bhadur Malik and his wife Farida Begum (32), both residents of Tantna Tehsil Gondoh District Doda.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Police Station Batote and investigation started.
