Separatists’ security costs Rs 9.47 cr

JAMMU, Mar 22: The security cover to the Hurriyat and other separatist leader has cost the State Government over Rs 9.47 crore during the past 12 years.
This information was provided by Minister Incharge Home in response to the question of Independent MLA, Engineer S A Rashid in the Legislative Assembly today.
The amount incurred on salaries of PSOs/drivers provided to the Hurriyat and other separatist leaders has been worked out at Rs 8,55,0231 during the year 2012. In 2001, the amount incurred on salaries of PSOs/drivers was to the tune of Rs 8,16,746. Under this head, an amount of Rs 4.96 crore has been spent by the Government since 2001.
As far as expenditure on the fuel, the amount has gone up from Rs 43,534 in 2003 to Rs 6,99,415 in 2012. Under this head a total of Rs 71 lakh have been incurred since 2003 till ending 2012. Similarly, amount incurred on salaries of residential guard has gone up from Rs 7,54,004 in 2001 to Rs 73,60,605 in 2012. The collective expenditure on residential guard provided to the separatists since 2001 till 2012 has been worked out at Rs 3.79 crore.
