Separate corner for Gharana birds at GDC RS Pura

JAMMU, May 15: A separate corner will be formed to highlight the birds of Gharana Wetland in the Government Degree College of RS Pura. For this an entire corner will be dedicated to the birds of the Gharana in the Zoology Hall.
Complete information about the Gharana birds will be made available in this corner. This was announced by the Head of Zoology, Prof. Preetpal Kaur after the consent of Principal Prof. Sunil Uppal in a program organized by The Himalayan Avian and Zoology Department in the College.
The Principal said that this wetland is attracting the world towards it, so our students should have full knowledge of wetland and the birds coming there.
Earlier, Guldev Raj gave detailed at information to the students about the Gharana birds on projector. He told how these birds come to Gharana to spend the winter and complete their migration. On the occasion, students got information about Bar Headed Geese, Greylag Goose, White Fronted Goose, Brahmi Ducks, Knob Build Duck, Painted Strok, Woolly Naked Stoke, Black Headed Ibis, Glossy Ibis, Red Naped Ibis, Pintail and Northern Shoveler birds.
It was pointed out that the tallest flying bird in the world Sarus crane, is also habitating in Samba-RS Pura border belt.
