JAMMU, Feb 24: A senior Pediatric doctor posted at a Government hospital in Bishnah Tehsil in Samba district was today admitted in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in a critical condition for suspected swine flu symptoms.
“Dr Bhupinder Singh, a senior Pediatrician posted at a hospital in Bishnah was today shifted to Isolation Ward of GMCH in a critical condition,” reliable sources in GMCH told EXCELSIOR.
They said that the blood sample of the doctor has been sent for testing at New Delhi. They further informed that a total of 24 more samples of suspected Swine flu patients were sent today for testing.
Meanwhile, Director Health BS Pathania informed that for the third day today no reports were received from New Delhi.
“No reports were received today from New Delhi by us. However, 25 more samples of suspected Swine flu patients were sent there for confirmation”, he added.
He said that people should not panic as H1N1 can be avoided by taking simple precautions such as washing hands frequently, wearing masks and avoiding closed and crowded places. He also advised citizens to follow the Health Department guidelines to safeguard themselves from the dreaded airborne disease.
According to the officials in GMCH, a total of 151 patients were examined today in special Flu OPD being run in Medicine Department of the hospital out of which 10 suspected patients including a doctor of Health Department were admitted in Isolation Ward. With this the total no of admitted patients in Isolation Ward has risen to 22, they added.
At Government Hospital Gandhinagar, a total of 32 patients (24 adults and 8 children) attended the special flu OPD while 43 patients (28 males and 15 females) were examined in a similar OPD being run at Government Hospital, Sarwal.
