POONCH, Jan 7: Former MLC, Dr Shehnaz Ganai has urged upon the District administration Poonch to constitute the monitoring teams and send them for on spot assessment of the difficulties and loss of properties of general public, occurred due to the recent inclement weather conditions in far flung areas of Haveli Constituency especially in tehsil Mandi of Poonch district.
She uttered that the administration must be fully prepared well before all such happening as it has many mediums to reach out to the general public while the public has no resources to reach up to the administration during such an emergency. She said that in order to overcome such like problems, the administration should convene all departments meeting soon after the issuance of advisory from Meteorology department in this regard.
Dr Shehnaz said that due to lack of electricity the situation of the villagers is very bad and they are shivering from cold as they don’t have any access to the timber wood and kerosene due to disconnectivity of link roads. Even they are unable to contact the administration and their relations telephonically as they are unable to charge their mobile phones in the absence of power supply.
She said the far- flung areas of Sawjian, Gagrian, Chhamber Kanari, Arai, Ban, Bala Ban, Naga Nari, Mahar Kote and Loran villages are totally cut off due to heavy snowfall and the ailing people are facing difficulties due to non availability of Medical facilities.
Dr Ganai urged upon the Administration that Medical personnel along with essential medicines should be dispatched to the remote areas to ensure the health and safety of the sick and elderly people especially women.
She further stated that due to delinking of the routes people are facing many hardships like non availability of kerosene, ration, LPG cylinders, power and safe drinking water supply. She said first of all the routes should be cleared so that the general public could carry their essential commodities to their respective homes.
