Sena protests, demands liquor free J&K

JAMMU, Apr 29: Shiv Sena J&K unit here today staged a protest demonstration demanding that J&K should be made liquor free.
The protest was led by Manish Sahni, Shiv Sena J&K president and the protesters gathered at the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh on Tawi Bridge and raised slogans in support of their demand.
They held placards with ‘Give Employment, Not Alcohol’ written on them.
Talking to reporters Sahni said that the increasing trend of alcohol and drug abuse in J&K is destroying the younger generation.
He claimed that though the consumption of alcohol is a sin in all the religions yet the liquor business in J&K is running so good that now even the national and international liquor mafias are entering the Union Territory who even not hesitate to sell adulterated liquor through liquor shops for profits.
“Liquor is not only destroying generations but is also ruining economy of the people and hurting their religious sentiments,” the Shiv Sena leader maintained appealing J&K people to support the movement of Shiv Sena against liquor.
Meanwhile, in Kupwara area of Kashmir, the protest was held under the leadership of Shiv Sena working president Kashmir, Ghulam Rasool Lone and Abdul Rashid Sheikh who too demanded liquor free J&K.
