JAMMU, Oct 26:  Seminars, debates and public functions marked the celebration of 63rd Accession Day of J&K State with Indian Union today.
The main function was held at a park near Tawi bridge in the morning which was organized by Jammu district BJP led by Rajesh Gupta. Besides, the flag hoisting the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh the last Dogra ruler of the State and a great nationalist after rejecting the two nation-theory signed the instrument of accession with Union of India.
Sweets were also distributed among the people on the occasion. Leader of Legislative Party, Ashok Khajuria while speaking on the occasion said the wise decision of Maharaja Hari Singh to accede to India at the time of partition displayed his patriotism and we should salute him for this bold and farsighted decision.
Khajuria said the day should be celebrated as a festival and each one of us must take pledge to fight the divisive forces.
BJP National Executive Member Shamsher Singh Manhas said that the role of the then RSS chief Guru Golvalkar was appreciable as he also made efforts in convincing Maharaja to accede with India as it was the only option to ensure safety and security of the nationalist people in the State.
On the occasion rich tributes were paid to all those martyrs including Dogra hero Brig Rajinder Singh who laid down their lives during the Pak aggression saved the State.
BJP spokesperson, Sunil Sethi, Jammu district vice president Sunil Dogra, Amarnath Gupta, Farooq Khan, Col (retd) Uttam Singh, Sakina Bano, Vibodh Gupta, Kuldeep Raj Gupta, Ashok Koul, Kavinder Gupta, Rajiv Jasrotia, Shiv Kumar Gupta, Brig (retd) Anil Gupta, Munish Sharma, Balbir Ram Rattan, Sat Sharma (CA), Yudhvir Sethi,  Pardeep Sharma, Vikram Randhawa,, Karan Singh, Jaidev Rajwal, Sanjay Baru and others attended the function.
In connection with celebration of Accession Day a seminar was organized by BJP JK Cell at Eden Garden, here in which Daya Sagar a well known writer was the main speaker.
In his lecture Daya Sagar exposed all the myths making rounds about the accession of J&K with India by quoting historical facts. He said only the valid and reliable document was “the Instrument for Accession signed by Maharaja Hari Singh and Lord Mountbatten, the then Governor General of India which has the legal validity.
He said all other stories like commitment made with Kashmiri people, UNO resolution, accession being conditional are cock and bull stories.
Ashok Koul (Org) general secretary BJP said that time has come when all the wrongs done by previous rulers of the State and country will be undone by throwing away the irresponsible opportunist politics of Congress, NC, PDP and the separatist organizations.
Chander Mohan Sharma, National convener of the Cell said that his organization is to fight against the disinformation campaign launched by the separatists, self rule and protagonist of autonomy and self rule.
Retd IGP S S Bijral State convener of the Cell and others also spoke on the occasion.
To mark the accession of J&K with the country a function was held at Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra Anand Nagar Bohri today.
Addressing the gathering a noted writer and retired Principal District and Session Judge B.L. Saraf highlighted the salient aspects of the process of accession to the country by the Maharaja Hari Singh. He said the Constitutional validity of the accession to the Union of India was complete in all respects.
Dispelling the questions raised by anti -India forces within the country and outside, he lambasted their vicious and false propaganda saying that these people have no ground as United Nations have also not questioned the validity of the accession.
Another columnist Shiban Khabri while speaking on the occasion traced the history of turbulent ties of 1947 said that the sudden attack by Pakistan and its band of raiders who let loose a reign of terror by slaughtering Hindu men and women of the State changed the whole political scene of the Sub Continent.
Another function was organized by BJP Sharnarthi Cell at Gadigarh. The programme was graced by the presence of State general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul, BJP vice president Vibodh Gupta and State Election Campaign Committee secretary Sat Sharma. The function was held under the leadership of BJP Sharnarthi Cell State convener Ashok Khajuria.
Speaking on the occasion Sat Sharma said BJP led Government at Centre is planning to settle the refugees within stipulated time.
Maharaja Hari Singh Vichar Manch Sainik Colony also celebrated the Accession Day today with great pomp and show. The people of all walks of life participated in the function. The speakers termed Maharaja  a great visionary and his decision a very calculated move keeping the wider interests of the people of State in mind.
B S Jamwal advocate, Sanjeev Manmotra, Sham Lal Bhagat, Kalidass, Himachal Singh Salathia, Arun Kumar Sharma, Dr Ashok Kumar Chopra, Rai Singh and others spoke on the occasion.
Two functions in connection with celebration of Accession Day were held at Kathua also. While the civil society of Kathua organized the function at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park, BJP also organized another function at Main Chowk Kathua.
The civil society function was led by Ravinder Singh Pathania in which it was demanded that the day be also celebrated at State level. They said when July13 is being observed at Government level why not the Accession Day?
The BJP function was led by Vijay Sharma, district president. The speakers while terming the decision of Maharaja a historical step also recalled the role of former RSS Chief Guru Golvalkar in this regard.
Accession Day was also celebrated by Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) at Delhi who termed J&K’s accession with India full and final. The KPC activists also illuminated their houses and busted crackers.
Speaking at a gathering of Party activists KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri demanded that the day be celebrated on Government level in the State of J&K and it should be declared as a public holiday. He said the day has a historical importance for the people of J&K as well as India and it should be celebrated with great pomp and show. Terming the accession full and final, he said the divisive forces should keep this in mind and join the national mainstream instead of playing in the hands of Pakistan.
In Bhaderwah, Accession Day was celebrated at Seri Bazar, in which hundreds of people participated. Des Raj Katal, president, Kissan Moracha along with Manjeet Razdan, general secretary, BJP and Raju Charak, former president, Sanatan Dharam Sabha hoisted the National Flag and also delivered speeches. Later, sweets were also distributed among the participants.
