JAMMU, May 27: A seminar on the topic “future of Sanatan Dharma in present scenario’’ was organized by Brahman Maha Mandal here which was attended by a large number of people.
Kashmiri Brahmans namely P L Hatash, Dr M M Jyotshi, H N Jatu, Prof J L Raina, M K Yogi and others were prominent who attended the seminar and gave their views on various issues confronting the Brahmin community after its displacement.
Swami Kumar Ji of Geeta Satsang Ashram was the chief guest on the occasion. On the occasion Saraswati Vandhana was presented by artists of Kalpana Kala Kendra.
The scholars stressed that elders should make it binding on younger generation not to deviate from their age old culture and traditions though they faced many challenges after the mass exodus. However they suggested that it is imperative to simplify the traditions and customs for younger generation to maintain balance with traditions and time.
The Brahman Maha Mandal also discussed some vital issues with regard to the amendment in the Constitution of Maha Mandal which were presented by R K Ganjoo general secretary of the Mandal. As per the amendment the nomenclature of the Mandal was changed from Brahman Mandal Kashmir to Brahman Maha Mandal J&K in view of shift of its head office from Ganpatyar, Srinagar to Jammu.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr R L Handoo vice president while the programme was over presided by B L Handoo president.
