Seminar on ‘Independent India and Jammu Kashmir’ begins

JAMMU, May 8: ICSSR sponsored two days national seminar on the theme ‘Independent India and Jammu Kashmir’ started today at Ved Mandir Complex, here.
The seminar has been organized under the aegis of Centre for Comparative Religions and Civilizations, Central University of Jammu and Centre for Ladakh and Jammu Kashmir Studies.
The day started with interaction session by scholars regarding the theme.
The first day’s plenary session was chaired by Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor of Central University Jammu.
Anil Goyal, renowned Charted Accountant and Social Worker co-chaired the session with various eminent speakers speaking about the contribution of J&K to Indian Freedom Movement.
Dr. Chahukeshi Jamwal shared historical facts like participation of people from J&K in Swadeshi Movement of 1905 and the social, political and economical awakening of locals through groups like Dogra Sadar Sabha.
Dr. Anu Kotwal explained the British conspiracy to control J&K even after the Treaty of Amritsar.
Dr. Sindhu Kapoor underlined the negligence of historians in perspective of Maharaja’s Role in Indian Independence.
Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Virender Koundal, Prof. Sanjeev Jain also spoke on the occasion.
The second day of seminar will commence at Brig Rajendra Singh Auditorium (Main Campus), Central University of Jammu.
