JAMMU, Nov 3: Two-day national seminar began today under the joint aegis of Department of Hindi and Other Indian Languages and Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) at Central University of Jammu.
The theme of seminar is ‘ Contribution of Hindi language and literature in the freedom movement and national integration’.
The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, who said that if countries like Japan , China etc can do all their work in their own language then why not in our country.
Seminar-convenor and Chairman of Department Hindi and other Indian languages, Prof Rasal Singh presented the theme-introduction. He underlined the contributions of Hindi writers and thinkers who played an important role in the freedom movement and national integration through Hindi language and literature. On the occasion, Prof Rasal Singh’s book ‘ Bharatiyata Ka Kavya-Bhakti Kavya’ published from Vani Prakashn,Delhi was also released.
The chief guest of inaugural session was Anil Kumar Sharma, Vice President of Hindi Shikshan Mandal, who said that there is a need to establish coordination , harmony and dialogue among all Indian languages, which can be linked to the Indian knowledge tradition.
Prof Kuldeep Chandra Agnihotri, former Vice Chancellor of Central University of Himachal Pradesh, expressed the need to brainstorm on the fundamental problems of language and said that the initiation of internal unity in the country is possible only through the mutual cooperation of Indian languages.
Ashutosh Bhatnagar, Director of the Center for Ladakh and Jammu Kashmir Studies, said that the beginning of the freedom movement in India should start with the preparation of the deconstruction of mental slavery from European colonial powers.
The chief guest of the first technical session, Prof. Niranjan Kumar (Advisor , MoS Education, GoI) said that Hindi is the only language with which the entire nation can be connected.
Pro Sudhir Pratap Singh from JNU underlined the contribution of Hindi language and literature in nation building and journalism. This session was presided over by Prof Anil Saumitra (Indian Center for Mass Communication , Jammu).
Chief guest of the last session of the first day, Prof Poonam Kumari (Professor JNU) and Prof Rameshwar Rai (Professor, Hindu College, University of Delhi) underlined the interrelationship between freedom movement and Hindi poetry and literature. This session was presided over by Prof Narendra Mishra (IGNOU).
