JAMMU, July 11: The Department of Hindi, University of Jammu (JU), today held a seminar on the topic ‘Nari Vimarsh’ in its premises.
Presenting the keynote address, Mukesh Kumari, a research scholar of the department, maintained that there are several questions and viewpoints raised by different scholars of west and east India. She said that Indian women have many problems related to her identity in the society, liberation of body and their place in the families.
Shallu Jamoria and Bhavna presented the condition of women in historical perspective. They said that in Vedic era, the condition of women was not bad but they began to lose their rights after Vedic era.
Ruchika and Ekta, research scholars of the department presented present conditions of the women depicted in the novels of Mamta Kalia and Sanjeev in the context of struggle.
Prof Parmeshwari Sharma in her address elaborated how condition of women can be improved in Indian society.
The programme was presided over by Prof Pushpa Devi from Kurukshetra while the vote of thanks by given by Prof Parvinder Kour, Head of the Department. Vandana Sharma compeered the programme.
