NEW DELHI, Mar 30: Firm conditions prevailed at the wholesale pulses market today as select pulses, led by gram, rose by up to Rs 200 per quintal on emergence of stockists’ buying following uptick in demand from retailers.
Traders said fresh buying by stockists, supported by pick-up in demand from retailers against restricted supplies from producing belts mainly pushed up gram and other pulses’ prices.
Higher enquiries from dal mills too influenced sentiment, they said.
In the national capital, gram rose by Rs 100 to Rs 3,900-4,000, while its dal local and best quality were up by Rs 200 each to Rs 4,000-4,400 and Rs 4,400-4,500 per quintal, respectively.
Kabuli gram small variety followed suit and edged higher by Rs 100 to Rs 4,700-5,700 per quintal.
Arhar and its dal dara variety was also seen in demand and gained Rs 50 and Rs 100 to Rs 4,200 and Rs 5,900-7,800 per quintal, respectively.
Masoor small and bold finished higher by Rs 50 each to Rs 3,450-3,600 and Rs 3,550-3,700 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality enquired higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 3,700-4,100 and Rs 3,800-4,200 per quintal.
In line with the overall trend, moong and its dal chilka (local) went up by Rs 100 each to Rs 4,700-5,400 and Rs 5,500-5,700 per quintal, respectively. Its dal dhoya local and best quality traded higher by the same margin to Rs 6,100-6,600 and Rs 6,600-6,800 per quintal, respectively.
Urad and its dal chilka local too moved up by Rs 100 each to Rs 3,850-5,150 and Rs 4,700-4,800 per quintal. Its dal best quality and dhoya enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 4,800-5,300 and Rs 5,200-5,400 per quintal.
