Select Committee seeks information on management of shrines in Valley

SRINAGAR, Sept 9: The Select Committee on “The Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Religious Places (Management and Regulation) Bill, 2009 held its meeting under the chairmanship of Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saifullah today.
The Committee, with its members Prof.  Chaman Lal Gupta, Dr Mustafa Kaamal, Abdul Rehman Veeri and Ashwani Kumar Sharma directed all the DDCs of Kashmir Province to furnish detailed information with regard to the present management of these shrines and religious places.
The Committee also directed the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to put the entire information on the website for seeking objections/suggestions from the stakeholders within a period of 10 days.
Earlier, the DDCs of Srinagar, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Anantnag and Budgam briefed the Committee about the shrines and religious places of Kashmiri Pandits in their respective districts.
Secretary Law, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Secretary Legislative Assembly Mohammad Ramzan, and other officers of the Revenue and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
