Secy Tourism reviews status of PMDP projects

SRINAGAR, May 14: Commissioner Secretary, Tourism Rigzian Sampheal today chaired a meeting to review the status of Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) projects and also capital expenditure (Capex) budget 2019-20 here at Conference Hall of Directorate of Tourism Department.
The meeting was attended by Director Tourism Kashmir, Nisar Ahmad Wani, Director Tourism Jammu, Om Prakash Bhagat, Director Planning, Tourism Parvez Ahmad Kakroo, MD JK Cable Car Corporation, Shamim Ahmad Wani, Director Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Bakhshi Javed Humayun besides CEOs, ADs and resort officers of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions.
Commissioner Secretary Tourism sought the information on the physical and financial progress of the projects, asset-wise revenue generation during 2018-19, details of the projects outsourced, a timeline of the completion of the projects sanctioned under PMDP.
While emphasizing on the creation of an eco-friendly infrastructure in a time-bound manner, Rigzian Sampheal directed the officers to initiate the tendering process of the approved projects or works proposed under Capex Budget 2019-20 forthwith, which should be completed by the end of this month.
He stressed on development of wayside facilities en route all tourist resorts for the comfortable and memorable journey of the travellers.
Commissioner Secretary, Tourism also directed the officers to identify 2 kanal of land near main roads for the installation of bio-toilets.
He also emphasized on outsourcing the assets soon after their completion.
