SRINAGAR, Oct 24: Army today said that it along with Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) responded with alacrity to the distress call from people of Tang Mohalla locality of Shopian district on the intervening night of 21 and 22 October when some ‘inimical elements set a few garment shops on fire’.
A defence spokesman said in a clear attempt at intimidating the locals who have started opening their shops thus expressing their desire for peace and normalcy, the anti-national forces set ablaze a few shops.
“But acting swiftly, the joint efforts of the Army, CAPF and Fire Services, brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading which saved many other adjacent shops. The people also stood shoulder to shoulder with the forces to fight the fire underlining that together, nothing was impossible,” he added.
