Security arrangements for Amarnath Yatra discussed

JAMMU, May 4: In view of ensuing Amarnath Ji Yatra and challenges on the border management, a joint meeting of Police, Army, BSF, CRPF and CAPF was held today under the chairmanship of Sujit Kumar DIG JSK Range Headquarters Jammu in PCR Jammu.
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the security measures required to be adopted during the ensuing Amar Nath Yatra which is starting from July 1 and will last till August 15. Apart from this, the security on the international border and LoC was also discussed in detail.
All the participating officers shared their valuable views on the subject matter. They stressed upon the need to strengthen Nakas from International border/LoC and on NHWs right from Lakhanpur up to the jurisdiction of district Jammu, put/place of modern equipments/gadgets and augment ‘nafri’ at vulnerable places along the NHW. The views put forth by the officers were welcomed by the DIG and he asked to implement them in toto.
The District SSPs of Jammu, Samba and Kathua intimated that they have made contingency plan in their respective areas in case of any exigency. They were told to conduct mock drill in order to ensure desired results besides checking of their alertness. All the Districts SSPs were directed to identify places for langers for Shri Amar Nath Ji Yatra.
The Army and the BSF officers presented in the meeting were told to conduct joint regular meetings with police officers in their respective areas and exchange intelligence sharing in case of any important information about terrorists & terrorism. They were told to strengthen the security grid and border management on the International Border and LOC.
Some of the officers presented in the meeting put forth the demands like BP Bunkers, Modern equipments/gadgetries etc. The District SSPs were directed to conduct regular training of the police personnel as per the SOP enumerated to keep them fit in order to retaliate effectively.
